One in nine American adults is now taking a GLP-1, up from 3% two years ago, and Scott's thesis is that most of us will be on one within three years — not for obesity, but for inflammation, cognition, and longevity. Dr. Melanie Jay, director of NYU Langone's Comprehensive Program on Obesity Research, isn't there yet. These drugs haven't been tested in healthy people, and she says the cost-benefit math that's well established in patients with obesity simply doesn't exist for everyone else.
