Ed, again, great post. One small correction. Israel assassinated the Iranian leadership. It is illegal for anyone, including the President to assassinate a head of state. This resulted from the Church Committee investigation of CIA activities. 18 U.S.C. § 1116: This U.S. statute criminalizes the killing or attempted killing of foreign officials, official guests, or internationally protected persons.

Im sorry but I think it’s clear that our regime doesn’t respect laws or traditions

SCOTUS has ruled the president is immune from criminal liability for acts as president. So Trump could order it with impunity. Those who acted on his order might have a problem. However in this case you’re right, Netanyahu ordered this and it was done by the Israelis.

"Regime Change: It doesn’t work. And yet here we are, trying it again, and expecting different results. The definition of insanity."

Thanks for courage to speak out.

Re: Your closing sentiment- you're assuming that the orange one can learn. Not so sure about that.

Wow… for the article overall, and for my emotional reaction to its fatalism. However, there‘s not one aspect, I could disagree with. I wonder, Ed, which opinion you have on this subject outside of your professional role. As in, what do you say to your gf for instance? I mean, it was important to get a viewpoint, that counterbalances everyone else‘s nonchalant position towards the Iran situation/war/escalation, you name it. I just hope in hindsight, the article could be labelled as an overreactive position. In any case, great job.

Whats always confusing for me is that historically the US and the UK have toppled democratic governments that were on the rise to being capitalistic and living western values. This has happened in the Middle East and Latín América.

So then they make regime changes from Democracy to extremism just to debilitate and 50 years later you have an extremist regime that now you want to take down again.

Just makes no sense.

If we want to create a better world we must make sure people live in thriving nations with freedom, rights and rule of law.

We should want other nations to be wealthy and have clear progress.

Agreed. It is surprising how resilient market prices have been, especially considering that present day valuations are some the highest they’ve ever been.

The oil crisis in 2006 played a role in breaking the credit bubble. The percolations in private credit today are reminiscent of subprime.

This oil crisis has the potential to be worse than the 2000s. Mainly because oil demand is much stickier than it was then.

Back then, government and finance leaders guaranteed these crisis were “contained” much as they say today.
